Think & Do Background

Think & Do Software (T&D) was formed in 1996 to develop and sell a PC-based control system based on a flowcharting paradigm. Most industrial control systems at that time were based on proprietary hardware devices called Programmable Logic Controllers, or PLCs. They were programmed in a language called Ladder Logic which mimicked the diagrams that were drawn to document control systems based on relays.

Think & Do provided an alternative to expensive proprietary hardware and difficult to understand ladder-logic programs. Think & Do would run on any suitably equipped PC and used an intuitive method of programming.

Think & Do Software was purchased in the early 2000s by Phoenix Contact. The last major release of Think & Do was version 8.1.1 in 2009. Phoenix will continue to sell Think & Do, but there are no plans make any enhancements or modifications to the product.

Salt Creek Software®

Salt Creek Software was formed in March of 2019 to develop, enhance, sell, and support a new version of Think & Do Software. This new version will be known as TND10. The current version from Phoenix Contact, 8.1.1, will only run on 32-bit versions of Windows 7. The initial goal of TND10 will be to support 64-bit Windows 10 systems. This is especially important now as Microsoft has announced that support for Windows 7 will end in April of next year.
